De Porceleyne Bijl
First half of the 18th century

A fine 18th century blue and white dish with the decoration of the Lady Fortune.
The lady is seated on a flower throne in a garden holding a cornucopia. She is surrounded by flowers and birds.
Around the main scene, we see twelve cartouches with floral ornamental decoration.
The rim decoration is an imitation of decoration on Chinese examples from the Kangxi Period, but the central scene is a typical European subject. An interesting mixture of cultures.

Marked with an axe, for the Porceleyne Bijl workshop. (The Porcelain Axe)

The dish is in very good condition, with the normal superficial wear and small chips to the rim.
