A rare Dutch tile with the decoration of a soldier, painted in thick brushstrokes of cobalt blue on the tin-glazed white ground.
The soldier is firing his musket, and that is what makes this tile so special: the shot is visible and painted in color. This is a very rare detail, normally they are only blue and white.
Painted within an accolade and leaf ornaments in the corners.
The tile is in wonderful condition with only a small restored chip to the top right corner. Further, with the normal wear as can be expected for its age.
