A very rare blue and white tile with a decoration of a female portrait. This tile was once part of a pillar mural. Most of these very early murals got lost over time, but sometimes a piece of it survives. This is the most interesting part, which shows the face of a woman. These pillar murals were copies of the sandstone busts that used to decorate the sides of a fireplace. These murals must have taken their place when the fashion changed. An absolute rarety that rarely comes on the market.
The tile is in good condition, but has a plaster filled chips to the top left. Further with the normal superficial wear and small chips according to age.
