The Netherlands
Circa 1610 – 1625

An early polychrome majolica circle tile or medallion tile with a decoration of a dressage horse.
The Horse is elegantly walking over the hill and about to stop for a snack of fresh leaves.
Very fine painted with much detail by using lots of different shades of orange/brown, green, and blue.
As a corner decoration, we see a leaf design.

One of the most striking examples of early Dutch tiles I’ve ever had in the gallery.
After 400 years with still wonderful vibrant colours and a high gloss glaze.

The tile is in excellent condition considering its age, with only a very small touchup to the bottom right corner.

Authenticity
