The Netherlands
Circa 1600 – 1620
A rare, small-sized, and early Dutch tile featuring a reclining deer.
Painted in beautiful, vibrant colors. Besides that, this tile is from the earliest period of tile production, this tile is also of a rare, smaller size than normal. We are not sure why that is. Maybe for a smaller fireplace, or did somebody want more different images? We will never know.
Painted in a quadrant or diamond with palmette corners in reversed painting, a Northern Renaissance style.
The tile is in good condition, with a restoration to the down right corner. Further, with the normal wear and small chips according to age.
