The Netherlands
Circa 1650 – 1680
A blue and white Dutch Delft tile with an ancient profession: Chimney sweep.
In the 17th century, many Italian chimney sweeps came to the Netherlands to work. It was quite common at the time to take your child along. Besides being cheap labor, this was also convenient. The little man could easily crawl into the chimney to clean it thoroughly at the bottom.
The work apparently drove the father a little crazy, judging by the way he lifts his ladder.
With so-called spiders as corner decoration.
The tile is in perfect condition, with the normal superficial wear and small chips according to age.
