The Netherlands
Circa 1670 – 1690
This is one of the most interesting tiles in our collection. A quadrant tile, but fully painted in blue and white, and made decades later than the original maiolica quadrant tiles from around 1600. Not that this tile is a replica, no, it is still a genuine 17th century tile. The Renaissance style combined with the new blue and white fashion. On this tile, the main decoration is a jumping dog, the symbol of loyalty. Painted in a quadrant or diamond with palmette corners in reversed painting. A Northern Renaissance style.
The tile is in good condition, with normal wear and small chips as can be expected for its age.
